Why Impractical?

Impractical – adjective – not adapted for use or action; not sensible or realistic.

“You don’t look like a runner.”

I’ve heard that phrase more often than I can count.

I think there is a general perception of “runners” as being thin and fast. I don’t fit into either of those categories. But I love running. I run to improve my health and to help manage stress. Sometimes I run as an excuse to dress up in goofy costumes. I’ve gotten hooked on distance running, with my current goals (in no particular order) being to run the Abbott World Major Marathons and to complete a half-marathon in every state. After that, who knows?

My goals may not be sensible. My body may note be ideally adapted for the sport. But if that is the case, I’ll happily be an Impractical Runner.
